Systematik

Drei Untergattungen sind beschrieben und werden verwendet: Labidostomma (Cornutella), Labidostomma (Labidostomma) und Labidostomma (Nicoletiella). Diese waren früher auch als verschiedene Gattungsnamen bekannt.

Der Status der Arten Labidostomma (Labidostomma) zangherii Lombardini, 1943 und Labidostomma (Nicoletiella) virescens (Targioni Tozzetti, 1886) gilt als unsicher.

Beschreibung

Mittelgrosse und große, meist gelbe oder orange Milben. Ihr Körper ist stark sklerotisiert, Netzstruktur des Kutikula jedoch ohne dicke Wände. Die Augen sind meistens vorhanden. Erste Beine sind taktil. Der Körper trägt meist wenige drüsenähnliche Organe. (Krantz & Walter 2009)

Arten und Verbreitung

Die Gattug ist weltweit verbreitet. Es wurde 13 Arten der Gattung in Europa nachgewiesen. (Stoch 2003)
