Systematik
Oribotritiidae gehört zur Unterordnung Oribatida, Infraordnung Mixonomata, Überfamilie Euphthiracaroidea und hat 11 rezente Gattungen und 189 rezente Arten weltweit (Stand 2011) (Subías 2004) (Walter 2006) (Zhang 2011).
Anatomie
Oribotritiidae ist eine Familie primitiver, meist mittelgroßer ptychoider Hornmilben.
Ventrale Platten sind unvollständig zusammengewachsen. Anale und adanale Platten sind immer, genitale und aggenitale Platten sind entweder ganz oder teilweise getrennt. Ein Dreieck, das die anale und genitale Platte trennt, ist nie vorhanden, aber eine aggenitale Inzision ist häufig gut entwickelt. 5-11 Paare von genitalen, 2-4 Paare von aggenitalen, 0-3 Paare von analen und 2-4 Paare von adanalen Setae sind in verschiedenen Kombinationen vorhanden. Palpus hat 3 bis 5 Glieder. (Balogh & Mahunka 1983)
