Lebensweise

Die Arten der Gattung Hyptiotes spannen ein Netz zwischen den unteren Zweigen von Nadelbäumen, auf, oft auf toten Zweigen (Anm. sie kommen auch auf Laubgehölzen vor, aber seltener). Ebenso im Unterholz, an Felsen und Schluchten. (Dondale 2003)

Arten und Verbreitung

Es wurde nur eine Art der Gattung in Mitteleuropa nachgewiesen. (Blick 2004) Weltweit kommen 15 Arten vor, die meisten davon in den Tropen. Vier in Nordamerika, zwei in Kanada.
