Etwa halbjährlich fand ein Update der Daten statt, um den Katalog auf dem neusten Stand zu halten.
Die für Europa relevanten Änderungen fasste Theo Blick auf den Seiten der European Society of Arachnology zusammen.
Seit August 2014 wird der World Spider Catalog von der World Spider Catalog Association betreut und durch das Naturhistorische Museum Bern online zur Verfügung gestellt. Neuerungen fließen in unregelmäßigen Abständen ein und stehen sofort zur Verfügung.
