Klasse: Arachnida (Spinnentiere)

Pseudoscorpiones ist eine Ordnung der Klasse Arachnida. Weltweit kommen 1100 Arten vor. Die größte Art ist Garypus giganteus, welche 7 mm lang wird. (Kaestner 1956)

Sie werden im deutschen Sprachraum Pseudoskorpione oder auch Afterskorpione genannt. (Kaestner 1956)

Anatomie

Pseudoscorpiones sind sehr kleine Tiere. Sie haben eine durchschnittliche Körperlänge von 2 bis 4 mm. Die kleinsten Arten sind kleiner als 1 mm. (Kaestner 1956) Die Vertreter der Ordnung ähneln den Skorpionen, besitzen aber weder Schwanz noch Endstachel. Der Körper ist in Prosoma (oder Cephalothorax) und Opisthosoma (Abdomen) geteilt, die breit miteinander verbunden sind. Das Prosoma ist oben vom Carapax bedeckt, der nicht geteilt ist. Die Unterseite des Cephalothorax zeigt jedoch eine deutliche Segmentierung. Das Opisthosoma ist in 11 oder 12 Glieder geteilt. Pseudoskorpione haben scherenähnliche Pedipalpen, die oft auch Giftdrüsen aufweisen. Die Cheliceren besitzen oft Spinndrüsen. Pseudoskorpione haben 4 Laufbeinpaare. (Parker 1982)

Lebensweise

Zur Fortpflanzung legt das Männchen die Spermazellen in ein Spermatophor, und das Weibchen nimmt sie auf. Einige Arten leben als Zwitter. Alle bekannten Arten leben räuberisch. Manche Arten heften sich gelegentlich an Insekten (vor allem die trächtigen Weibchen) und lassen sich so transportieren (Phorese). (Parker 1982)

Lebensraum

Pseudoscorpiones leben vor allem in der Streu, in Bodenlücken, unter Baumrinde, in Kompost- und Heuhaufen, in Höhlen, kommen aber auch synanthrop vor. (Blick & Muster 2003) Einige Arten sind an Meeresküsten heimisch, sind aber nicht wirklich aquatil. (Parker 1982)

Verbreitung

Die Ordnung ist weltweit verbreitet (auf dem antarktischen Festland nicht, aber zwei Arten sind von den französischen subantarktischen Inseln bekannt). (Parker 1982)
