Merkmale
Weibchen werden 6 bis 7 mm lang, Männchen 3,5 bis 4,5 mm. (Bellmann 2006) Die Länge des Beines B II beträgt durchschnittlich bei einem adulten Weibchen: 6,7(Fe), 1,4(Pa), 5,0(Ti), 6,5(Mt) und 10(Ta). Die Längen der Beine I bis IV betragen insgesamt ca. 17, 30-35, 20 und 27 mm. (Szalay 1968)
Die Färbung der Tiere variiert zwischen weißlich-gelbbraun (m) bis mittelbraun (w). Eine deutliche, dunkle Sattelzeichnung besitzen nur die weiblichen Tiere. Die Art kann man sofort (auch als juveniles bis subadultes Tier) anhand des Augenhügels erkennen (Bild). Als zusätzliches Erkennungsmerkmal für adulte männliche Tiere kann man die Cheliceren, die auf dem zweiten Glied einen dorsolateralen Höcker aufweisen, erwähnen (Bild). (Szalay 1968) Die Körperform reifer Tiere variiert zwischen länglich oval (w) bis gerundet viereckig (m).
Geschlechtsreife
Geschlechtsreife Tiere von April bis Juli (Martens 1978), männliche Exemplare werden selten gefunden.
Lebensraum
Im Frühjahr fast überall (Laternen, Garagenwände, Zaunlatten, Waldrand, Wald), später als reifes Tier eher selten. Die Art kommt in nahezu allen Habitaten in Bodennähe vor: von feuchten Wäldern bis zu Trockenrasen. (Szalay 1968)
